The Benefits of being Honest & Truthful !

 

The more I grow up, the more I realize why speaking truth is revolutionary in every step of your life, if you're sensible, selfish and materialistic, if you do not have orientation of afterlife accountability, and if Allah is not central in your life, then you will perhaps reach to the conclusion that lying and being deceitful is the part common strategy to succeed and progress in our lives. This is the reason why a four-year-old child lies to you, because He sees advantage of lying in the cause-and-effect world. 

But if you consistently lie to others and yourself for the years, you are stranger to others and yourself. Internal dialogue doesn't take place anymore. Liars attract liars, because they believe in the same episteme and system of cause-and-affect, these friendships are based on common interests and are based on give-and-take...these transactional choices make us very commercial person. People begin to identify us with our interests, and they put a price-tag on us, because we are sell-able commodities. That is the not the real worth of being civilized person. The ethos of literally civilized person is different, He doesn't offer you anything else but his core to you, he would not offer you tiny part of himself, He will offer you his complete existence, he's authentic but people around him keep a calculator, and then they call him simple, naive, Darwish, Faqeer, Allah-Wala... don't you understand that despite of multiple reminders and betrayals, such naive people don't change themselves. Their anger has no agenda, their associations have no agenda, they simply don't like to build a relationship who use them as currency for something else. They nothing to offer. In these strategic games, they are not even stakeholder, they are just themselves. Living raw honest life to the fullest. 

Someone told me that act of justice of one moment is better than worship of hundred years. There are acts of honesty and acts of truths...we have seen people throughout history who are remembers for these acts even after their lives. In the moment of great courage and bravery, their heart tremble too, their hands shake but they pronounce it against all the odds, despite knowing the consequences. Do you think these people operate themselves without divine supervision? The absolute refusal to sell themselves against any price tag is the result of higher vision. That vision is the trust of promise of Lord, eternal promise, eternal life. Bliss. 

There is this divine equilibrium that operates beyond cause-and-effect and physical realties of the life. We should teach our kids not to lie, just because it is moral and right thing to do, but because we are representative of Lord, and people of lord don't betray, they don't manipulate, and they don't harm anyone. Lying is the mother of all sins, because everything else begins after that. 

People laugh at such people for being stupid because in our society, the sanest and the most intelligent thing is to lie. We do it so often that we don't even remember it, we don't even feel guilty for it anymore. It takes form of life for us, it grows in our families, tribes and generations so that we are identified for our such takes in the life. People often associate us to the side of aggressors, and victims around us are getting lonely. Because all our sensibility and intelligence tell us to side with the aggressor.  That is where money, influence and political power is. 

I know individuals who work very hard for such rewarding careers. The earn lot of money, they enjoy luxuries in life, power, prestige, position. From a distance, it seems that they are living a life that amazing, but they are betraying their God every single day. They think they can negotiate God like dealing with someone in finance office...and it would seem like a fair and acceptable transaction for both parties, and He will agree. 

When you read Holy Quran with translation, you realize it addresses your soul, your core. Your heart. our hearts become black because we betray our Allah. The cost of lying is penetrated on any victim around you, and you end up enabling any aggressor. In the grand divine scheme, you are manipulating it simply by your choices, you are resistance to the justice and fair world and Allah doesn't like the aggressors and those who crossed boundaries. The crossing of boundary begins with simple, plain and harmless lies. 

In the deeper analysis, if you see...the whole life is all about taking a side with a lie or taking a side with a truth, in the greater scheme, you take a side and play your role. your entire life is all about that. All your decisions and choices are all about that. Do you want to be beneficiary by harming any victim at the mercy of aggressor, or do you want to take sides with victims by pronouncing the honest and truthfulness? That is the only choice you have to make all our life. 

You will be raised from deep sleep after your death, and Allah is all powerful and knowing to give you another life. That is why I say to keep after-life narrative intact in making your everyday decisions, because without adding after-life world view, your analysis is incomplete, and you make stupid decisions. 

May Allah give us courage, resilience and strength to pronounce what is right and what is wrong always !
